"The ‘Abui’ are angry; a dark cloud hangs over Gui-ra, which has been abandoned by its inhabitants and is falling into ruin. We will have to search for them in the râys," the village of Gui Ra between 19237 and 1939 (EFEO_LEPJ00183).

248 new entries have been posted online. These photographs were taken in central Vietnam by Jean Le Pichon, then an officer in the Indochinese Guard.

In 1927, Jean Le Pichon settled in Vietnam as a plantation owner. The 1929 crisis forced him to enlist in the Indochinese Guard, where he rose through the ranks from private to chief inspector. In the field, he focused on serving as a mediator. It was while exploring the mountainous region between Hué, Pleiku, and Kontum that he encountered the Katu highlanders, whose traditions he documented, encouraged in this endeavor by Rev. P. Cadière (Missions Étrangères de Paris), a corresponding member of the EFEO and co-founder of the Bulletin des Amis du vieux Hué.
