Secondment to the EFEO
As part of the support provided by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Space (MESRE) to enhance the international visibility of the Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH), a long-term mobility scheme (one semester or one year) was launched in 2021 in each of the five French Schools Abroad. The scheme aims to encourage the development and submission of research projects responding to national or European calls for proposals.
At the French School of Asian Studies (École française d’Extrême-Orient – EFEO), this scheme takes the form of a secondment hosting a lecturer-researcher from a French university or a French public higher education and research institution. The purpose of the secondment is to prepare and submit a project proposal in response to a call for proposals (such as ERC, ANR or others), in partnership with the EFEO, and aligned with one of the institution’s scientific research priorities.
For the year 2026, the EFEO is hosting the following scholars on secondment:
- Mr Pierre-Emmanuel Roux, historian and specialist in Korean studies, Associate Professor at Université Paris Cité. His project is entitled “Mobilities in East Asia: Control Mechanisms and Practices of Transgression.”
-
Ms Alice Vittrant, linguist and specialist in Burmese, Professor at Université Lumière Lyon 2. Her project is entitled “Linguistic Diversity, Language Contact and (Im)Migration.”
