The EFEO, represented by Gregory Kourilsky, Head of the EFEO Centre in Bangkok, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Siam Society Under Royal Patronage (TSS).
Founded in 1904, the Siam Society is a Thai cultural institution whose mission is to promote knowledge of the culture, history, arts and natural sciences of Thailand and neighbouring countries. This agreement aims to formalise the links that have existed for over a century between the two institutions (George Cœdès was president of the Siam Society from 1925 to 1930 and director of the EFEO from 1929 to 1947) and to strengthen their scientific cooperation (exchange of sources and publications, organisation of colloquiums, exhibitions and study days, etc.). The signing of this memorandum of understanding took place in the presence of H.E. Jean-Claude Poimbœuf, French Ambassador to Thailand.
