Sita Thamar van Bemmelen is giving a lecture entitled “Birth, Marriage and Death in 19th-Century Batak Society”, organised by the EFEO Centre in Jakarta. The speaker, a historian, specialises in gender and development (gender mainstreaming, violence against women) and the contemporary history of Indonesia (education, Christianity, gender and customary law).
The lecture will be held in Indonesian, on site.
