Recherches en cours

Des recherches ethnographiques menées depuis 2008 dans une commune des hauts plateaux du Cambodge où les habitants autochtones ont fait face à la transformation de leurs terres en plantations industrielles constituent le fondement d’un projet de livre. Les villageois bunong ont non seulement cherché à défendre leur espace de vie en ayant recours au droit national et international, mais ils ont aussi mis en œuvre des rituels pour réparer et soigner leurs relations troublées par les mutations en cours. Ces rituels seront au centre du livre, comme mode d’action dans un contexte tendu et incertain.

Dans le cadre d’un projet ANR « Alternative life projects in rural South & Southeast Asia: Reflecting on post-development through a study of diverse emplaced collectives », C. Scheer va conduire des recherches avec une association autochtone du nord-est du Cambodge et une organisation catholique active parmi des minorités montagnardes en Thaïlande du Nord. Elle coordonne le work-package traitant des imaginaires (cosmo)politiques et des subjectivités mouvantes.

C. Scheer collabore avec la Bunong Indigenous Peoples Association (BIPA) en vue d’une documentation géographique et audio-visuelle des forêts-cimetières et des domaines des esprits constitutifs des terres ancestrales bunong dans la province de Mondulkiri, au Cambodge. Cela implique une réflexion sur le concept de « paysage culturel » et plus généralement sur la patrimonialisation comme potentiels outils de protection de lieux puissants.

Les recherches ethno-historiques se poursuivent avec des témoins bunong du Cambodge, tant sur l’implication de minorités montagnardes dans l’armée de la République Khmère, que sur les interactions entre habitants des hautes terres du Vietnam et du Cambodge après la réunification du Vietnam et la prise de pouvoir des Khmers Rouges en 1975C.
