2012 Tam Dao Summer School

The "Summer School in Tam Dao" mostly concentrated on training on methodology in social sciences: geography, economics, statistics, socio - anthropology and history, etc. Every year, approximately 100 participants (who are PhD students, lecturers, researchers, staff etc) participate in the course. The course is held in Hanoi and Tam Dao, a resort located near Hanoi capital.
Following the success of the first three editions (2007-2009) it has been decided to continuer the Summer School programme for the next 4 years (2010-2013). The Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) and its international partners have committed to support the development of the « Summer School in Tam Dao". The international partners involved are the French Development Agency (AFD), the Research Institute for Development (IRD), Nantes University, the French School of Asian Studies (EFEO) and the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF).
The cooperation aims at the creation of long term efficient training framework within the Regional « Summer School in Tam Dao », with the following target: supporting qualified training by senior research training on social sciences. The "Summer School in Tam Dao" aims at improving of knowledge on methodologies and instruments in social sciences,; enhancing and building capacity for the analysis of socio-economic changes; and finally, training on methodologies for assessing the impact of development projects; taking stock on the success and position of the "Summer School in Tam Dao". The objective is to attract a large number of academic and non-academic researchers in South-East Asia; creating a environment conducive for debate on policies as well as an open network of researchers in South East Asian countries. The course is designed as a common forum that allows research on strategies, methodologies as well as development current issues; at the same time, it is also a place for training and exchange of opinions among researchers and policy makers.
