On 11th December 2017 at the École pratique des hautes études (EPHE) in Paris, Melinda Fodor defended her thesis, Contribution à l’étude du genre dramatique des saṭṭaka, pièces en langue prakrite : la Karpūramañjarī et ses successeurs (“Contribution to the study of the dramatic genre of saṭṭakas, plays in the Prakrit language: the Karpūramañjarī and its successors”), which she had prepared under the supervision of Nalini Balbir. With two scholarships, including one from the EFEO, Melinda Fodor was able to spend several months in Pondicherry and there read the whole of the Ānandasundarī, one of the four Prakrit plays she was studying for her thesis, with researchers from the Pondicherry Centre of the EFEO.
