In 2009-2010, the French School of Asian Studies built a new library on the grounds of its Chiang Mai Centre.  The new buildings are open to the public since 2011.  The EFEO library in Chiang Mai now holds a considerably enlarged collection of approximately 50 000 books in English, French, Thai and some other languages, focus on Asia, especially Southeast Asia and Thailand, Buddhism and other religions, philosophy, anthropology, archeology, history, art and literature.

In addition to its monograph holdings, the library also comprises a major collection of almost 53 000 issues of about 1 370 titles of periodicals in the fields of Thai and Southeast Asian Studies.

 

Opening hours

Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.

  • Closed on Thai public holidays and during the Songkrant festival, or Thai New Year, in mid-April.
  • Borrowing privileges are restricted to EFEO staff
