Cambodian royal ballet photographic documentation
In 1927, George Groslier, then Director of the National Museum, realized
that the Cambodian royal ballet was in danger of disappearing. He
undertook the preservation of its memory through a remarkable project of
photographic documentation, creating a large collection of glass
negatives. The EFEO has organized an exhibition, for the first time, of
these images (through life size projection) at the Phnom Penh National
Museum, in the very place where the pictures were taken. The exhibition
has been subsidized by the French Institute in Cambodia and UNESCO.
