A student trainee in bookbinding and restoration training is working in the EFEO library's restoration workshop on a selection of books from the "Travel" category of the EFEO's collections on the theme of Japan.



The cleaning and restorations that will be carried out on these damaged and dirty old books will allow to show you a spectacular before / after.



First step of this project after the selection of documents: dusting by scrubbing, with a sock gum (powdered gum arabic in a cloth) which allows the fragile paper to be preserved.
