International Conference on Manuscript Studies in Wuhan

On 22nd-24th June 2018 an international conference was held in Wuhan to present recent research in Manuscript Studies from Han to Tang, with the title Han-Tang xieben wenhua yanjiu 漢唐寫本文化研究. The conference was fundend by Wuhan University, and organized by Professor ZHONG Shulin, with the collaboration of Costantino MORETTI who coordinated the participation of foreign researchers. The talks were held at the School of Chinese Language and Literature of Wuhan University, where scholars from various institutions reported on their recent research. Presentations concerned specific subjects, with focus on the study of ancient and medieval Chinese manuscripts.

Among the speakers giving papers at the conference were European guests Bidur BHATTARAI (Centre for the Study of Manuscript Cultures, University of Hamburg), Max Jakob FÖLSTER (Max Weber-Stiftung), Costantino MORETTI (Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Professor in Chinese Medieval Buddhism, École française d'Extrême-Orient), and Thies STAACK (Institute of Chinese Studies, Heidelberg University).
Rens KRIJGSMAN (Center of Bamboo and Silk Manuscripts, Wuhan University) and Paul Nicholas VOGT (Indiana University), also presented the results of their new collaborative research project.
