Exhibition on the unsung collections of the Maison de l'Asie: Amour et érotisme en Asie [Love and eroticism in Asia]

This year, the Library of the Maison de l'Asie offers you a romantic and erotic journey through a selection of works from our collections.
Love and its obstacles inspire the Asian authors until today and remain an inexhaustible source of scenarios feeding the film productions from Bollywood to Seoul via Hong Kong.
Asia, although deemed as conservative has been able, throughout its history, to make room for sexuality, including some practices remained taboo in Occident until recently: India for example has always recognized the third sex and has been able to integrate into society, even under the reign of the Mughals, the so-called hijras.
