Exhibition « Street vendors calls in Hanoi »
13 SEPTEMBER 19
The exhibition presents a collection of sketches, drawings and water colours made by fifteen Vietnamese students at the Indochina School of Fine-Arts and their teacher, Ferdinand de Fénis. They portrayed with talent the small world of street vendors who criss-crossed the streets of the capital at first light to sell a variety of fruits, vegetables and snacks.
Photographs of same period from the EFEO’s photo library are also displayed as part of an interactive installation. Scenes of daily life in Hanoi in the past may be observed through a combination of light boxes, projections and installations.
Inaugurated on 13 September 2019 by the French Ambassador, Nicolas Warnery, the exhibition remains at the Hanoi French Institute – l’Espace until 31 October 2019.
