Résumé:
Trokyap, located at the fringe of the Sichuan and Xikang border, became the stake of the local authorities after the KMT decided to incorporate this Tibetan domain to Xikang at the end of the 1930s. The entire affair, revealed from recently released archival documents, put into the forth the attempt and incapacity of the Chinese central government to control its southwestern border while its decentralized agents dared to contest its decision. The affair is then put on different levels which are national for the KMT, provincial for the Sichuan and Xikang authorities, and local for the Trokyap king with every party pursuing its own political or economic purpose. The Trokyap domain which was at the core of the issue, revealed the balance of powers between the protagonists and the limits of the KMT government in the implementation of its state-building policy.
