Résumé:
In the field of the social sciences of religion, we have witnessed a “hagiographic turn” in the 1990s, particularly in the former Eastern Bloc. The study of hagiographies, both as textual production and as social processes, provides a better understanding of the culture of sainthood in post-communist societies. The aim of this presentation is firstly to understand why hagiographic sources are little explored in studies of religion in China, and more especially Islam. An exploration of certain religious phenomena based on hagiographic material collected within a Muslim community in Gansu will be then proposed.
