The scenic hill known today as Piranmalai, which lies in Pandya country between Madurai and Pudukottai, is the site of a sizeable corpus of pre-modern inscriptions. Although the existence of most of them has been noted in the Annual Reports of Indian Epigraphy (1903, 1924 and 1968/69), less than half had been published until now. This volume for the first time presents the corpus of the site in print together. The previously published inscriptions have been printed here again, with corrections, as well as the previously unpublished ones, including twenty-two fragmentary inscriptions whose existence had not hitherto been noticed at all. Altogether, this forms a corpus of 100 inscriptions dating from the beginning of the thirteenth century onwards. Each text is briefly characterized, with mention of whether and where it has been noticed or published before, along with regnal information relevant for dating and contextualization. There is also a brief summary of its content.
