Maintenance of 19, Dumas Street: the annex
16 NOVEMBER 16
Following a plan most generously drawn up and offered to the EFEO by the architect Jean-Louis Cardin, work is underway to replace the annex that was dangerously damaged by construction next-door with a new building that will be in harmony with the main courtyard and which will restore the beauty of a hitherto hidden rear facade of the principal building that dates to the early-nineteenth-century. The new building will house the archives of the Centre, in particular the manuscripts, which were recognised by UNESCO in 2005, along with those of the French Institute of Pondicherry, as forming part of a "Memory of the World" Collection.
