R. Sathyanarayanan visited Tsukuba University, Tokyo, Japan as a visiting professor from 19^th to 28^th of November 2016 to instruct Japanese students in transcribing the classical Telugu script written in the centuries-old palm-leaf Sanskrit manuscripts and
also deliver a lecture on "Transmission of written texts in South India" in the symposium “Listening to Voices through Scripts and Letters.
