Tariq Jazeel, Senior Lecturer in Geography at the University of Sheffield, UK, is visiting the Pondicherry Centre of the EFEO during August 2012. Funded by a European Consortium for Asian Field Study (ECAF) Fellowship, Tariq is conducting research on Architectural Modernism and Architectural heritage in Pondicherry and around. This project builds on his previous research on Sri Lankan tropical modern architecture (a list of published work can be found http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/geography/research/pubs/jazeel_tariq), and aims to look at the regional (dis)connections between architectural modernism and heritage approaches.
