Hugo David defended his thesis, prepared under the direction of Gerdi Gerschheimer and entitled La parole comme moyen de connaissance. Recherches sur l’épistémologie de la connaissance verbale et la théorie de l’exégèse dans l’Advaita Vedānta ("Speech as a means of knowledge. Research on the epistemology of verbal knowledge and the theory of exegesis in the Advaita Vedānta") at the École pratique des hautes études in Paris on 4th December  2012 (Speciality: “Religious sciences and systems of thought” ED 472 ). Hugo David was able to make use of the advantages of the EFEO Centre in Pondicherry during the preparation of this remarkable thesis. Among the researchers of the EFEO, Dominic Goodall was a member of the jury.
