Lecture by Louise Roche and Chloé Chollet
09 FEBRUARY 18
A lecture will take place at the Centre on 9th February at 4pm, on the occasion of the visit of Louise Roche, doctoral student (EPHE /EFEO) and EFEO scholar, and by Chloé Chollet, Masters student at the EPHE.
This talk will present the corpus of temples on which Louise Roche is focusing upon in order to document a particular iconographic phenomenon proper to the 12th century in Cambodia. The systematic study of this visual phenomenon, assembling Hindu and Buddhist images at the same time in the same sanctuary, may provide us more information about the coexistence of Hinduism and Buddhism during the Angkorian Period.
After that, Chloé Chollet will briefly present her MA thesis research on one of the Cambodian temples of Śiva's footprints (śivapāda), the so-called Prasat Preah Netr Preah (Banteay Meanchey Province).
