Vishal Sharma, a DPhil stu­dent at the Uni­versity of Ox­ford (Depart­ment
of Oriental Studies), stayed in Pondi­cherry from July till Sep­tember, to conti­nue his re­search on the commen­tarial tradi­tion of the Mahā­bhārata. His work is mostly con­cerned with the little-studied inter­pretations of the great San­skrit epic by scho­lars from the Mādhva tradi­tion. For his disser­tation, he will be focusing on the re­proaches of Kṛṣṇa in the Mahā­bhārata. During his stay, he read the Mahā­bhārata­tātparya­nirṇaya of Madhvā­cārya with the commen­tary of Vādi­rāja and others, under the direction of R. Satya­narayanan.
