The Kyoto Centre library holds 9,050 monographs and 23 journal titles (1,300 volumes) in English, French, Japanese and Chinese (1,000 titles), mainly on Asian history and religions (Buddhism, Taoism, etc.) and the history of Japanese art, 2,600 of which are catalogued in the SUDOC. These are mainly works collected by researchers at the Institut du Hôbôgirin between 1968 and 1997 - in particular the libraries of Etienne Lamotte, Anna Seidel and Hubert Durt - and were donated by Christophe Marquet in 2022.
The ISEAS library, located in the same building, holds 7,900 volumes (monographs and journals), mainly in Western languages, on Japanese and Chinese studies. It is open to researchers and readers of the EFEO Centre.
