Nicolas Fiévé, Director of the École française d'Extrême-Orient - EFEO, is in Cambodia to meet with the Cambodian authorities and the EFEO's main scientific partners in Cambodia.

He met with His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, who received him in royal audience. Mr. Fiévé expressed the gratitude and appreciation of the EFEO to His Majesty the King for his continuous support. His Majesty the King warmly thanked the EFEO for its efforts to promote Cambodian heritage.


Education and training (such as epigraphy, archaeology, philology, etc.) are major areas of cooperation. Several generations of Cambodian researchers have been trained by the EFEO.

The Director then signed a framework agreement with Pierre Vincent, Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Action and Director of the Institut français du Cambodge.


It marks the will of our two institutions to strengthen their cooperation and their patronage of the arts and heritage.
