Inventory of Siamese manuscripts


The inventory of Siamese manuscripts held in the EFEO library in Paris has been published in the Calames catalogue.


This collection is composed of 265 manuscripts (199 shelf references), in classical Thai, dated from mid 19th century to second decade of 20th century. The corpus mainly consists in copies, written on folded mulberry paper (samut khǭi).


It includes Siamese narrative literature of Rattanakōsin period (poetry and theatre, some plays of Sunthǭn Phū and one version of ʿInāo), adaptations of Jātaka in Siamese verses (few sections of Vessantara-jātaka), romans (Sām kok, Sai han), philosophical texts (Analects of Confucius), historical Siamese texts (Annals of Siam and Rāchāthirāt), treatises of diction or recitation, treatises of metrics (with two versions of Čindāmanī) and collections of proverbs.
