On November 11-14, 2011, the Center received Miss Laurette Cointet, postdoctoral researcher of the Minzu University of China (Pekin, China) and young researcher affiliated to the IETT de l’Université Jean Moulin, Lyon 3. In the context of her research project “Identification of National Minorities in the People’s Republic of China from 1950 to Today”, she came to Hong Kong to investigate the unidentified groups, such as the Hakka and the Danmin in the Guangzhou region and to interview Mr. Chen Jiarong, who has undertaken the work of distinguishing and classifying national minorities in China. During her visit, Miss Cointet consulted the rich collection of publications on contemporary China at the University Service Centre for China Studies, CUHK.
