The École française d’Extrême-Orient (EFEO) and the Scuola Italiana di Studi sull'Asia Orientale (ISEAS) launched in November a new series of lectures in partnership with the Institute for Research in Humanities (Kyoto University).

This series focuses on religious teaching and preaching in Early Modern Japan with the aim to promote dialogue among students and scholars doing research on Japanese religious history from different nationalities and institutional backgrounds.

For 2018-2019 six talks are on schedule, all in Japanese.

The last talk will be held on the 28th of June at the at the Institute for Research in Humanities - Kyoto University (main building, seminar room 1)  with Didier Davin (National Institute of Japanese Literature) as a speaker.

近世日本に発信された禅 禅宗仮名法語の思想についての一考察  



Didier Davin (ディディエ・ダヴァン ) 国文学研究資料館。日本仏教と日本文学、特に臨済宗の思想史と文学の関係を専門とする。最近の論文は「海を渡った禅-欧米「ZEN」の誕生」、『別冊サンガ5、「Zen」』、2019、 Between the Mountain and the City – Ikkyū Sōjun and the Blurred Border of Awakening, Studies in Japanese Literature and Culture, 2, 2019, pp. 45-60、「室町時代の禅僧と『臨済録』」、『『臨済録』研究の現在』、禅文化研究所、2017などがある。
