Peter Skilling in India

Peter Skilling will do field research in northern India from 16 October to 19 November. He will visit ancient sites in Bihar, UP, MP, and Rajasthan. He will start at Bodh Gaya, the "Diamond Seat" where the Buddha achieved awakening, and visit local museums and sites in the area such as the Taradih mound, Bakror Stupa, Dharawat, and the Asokan period Barabar and Nagarjuni caves. His research will take him to sites in the vicinity of Patna (Bihar), and Sarnath (UP), as well as to Gwalior (MP), and Gujarat. The Archaeological Survey of India will help coordinate his field visits.
