At the invitation of Professor Bayart, Chair Yves Oltramare at the Graduate Institute of International Studies and Development in Geneva, Jacques P. Leider, head of the EFEO centers in Yangon and Bangkok, gave a lecture on the subject of violence between Buddhists and Muslims. He deciphered the recent past of the country and the impact of its isolation and examined the place of violence in a religion constituted as pacifist in the western imagination.
