Peter Skilling will be Visiting Khyentse Professor of Buddhist Studies at Savitribai Phule Pune University in November and December 2016. He will give two weekly classes. A reading class will read selected Pali texts in Thai-script editions. These will include the Dhammacakkappavattana-sutta; excerpts from the ‘Fifty Jatakas' (Pannasa-jataka); and excerpts from the ‘History of the Recitation/Redactions' (Sangitiya-vamsa). Weekly lectures will discuss Buddhism in Southeast Asia, the Pali literature of Thailand, relics, and the ideology of blessing and benefits (anisamsa).
