The Ambassador of France to Thailand, Mr. Gildas Le Lidec, visited the Siam Society on the 12th of February 2011 at the invitation of its president and its board of directors represented by Mrs Beatrice Latham and Mr François Lagirarde.
The Ambassador was particularly interested in visiting the collections of manuscripts saved from the fire of November 2009 which ravaged the entire right wing of the buildings of the Society. This collection is under the responsibility of Atchan Term Mitem, a prominent philologist from the National Archives of Thailand, assisted by the EFEO team in Bangkok for its full digitization.
