Vishal Sharma in Pondicherry
30 SEPTEMBER 16
Vishal Sharma, a DPhil student at the University of Oxford (Department
of Oriental Studies), stayed in Pondicherry from July till September, to continue his research on the commentarial tradition of the Mahābhārata. His work is mostly concerned with the little-studied interpretations of the great Sanskrit epic by scholars from the Mādhva tradition. For his dissertation, he will be focusing on the reproaches of Kṛṣṇa in the Mahābhārata. During his stay, he read the Mahābhāratatātparyanirṇaya of Madhvācārya with the commentary of Vādirāja and others, under the direction of R. Satyanarayanan.
