In November the Hanoi centre hosted Fabien Chébaut, who is doing his PhD at the École Pratique des Hautes Études and currently holds an EFEO scholarship. His research, supervised by Philippe Papin, is on the historical geography of southern Champa in the 18th-19th centuries. Accompanied by Thành Phần of the centre for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City, they spent ten days in Ninh Thuận province gathering data on place names, landscapes and irrigation systems in the area.
