Visit to Center No. 4 of the National Archives of Vietnam
11 MARCH 22
Philippe Le Failler and Ms. Nguyễn Hưong Giang, from the EFEO center in Hanoi, visited Center No. 4 of the National Archives of Vietnam in Dalat from March 7 to 11, 2022, to work on the development of a source guide.
The aim is to highlight the wealth of the collections held there, which include the woodcut archives of the Nguyễn Dynasty (inscribed on the World Heritage List), as well as the very interesting collection from the former High Residency of Annam (in French) and other collections relating to the history of central Vietnam.
As always, the warm welcome of the director, Mr. Nguyễn Xuân Hùng, combined with the professionalism of his team of archivists, made a productive week of work. Initiated a year ago, this collaborative project will allow the newest Vietnamese archive center to have a comprehensive inventory of its collections, to be published in a bilingual edition. The joint publishing project is expected to be completed by 2023.
