Title: Networks and quantification of trade in the Indian Ocean (3rd BC - 7th AD): methodology and problematics
Summary: Recent archaeological discoveries in the field of maritime exchanges between the Mediterranean and South Asia have renewed our perspectives on this topic and allow us to re-evaluate the available data, confronting the old and new one. My research consists in trying to quantify the excavation material as well as to give statistical analyses of it, in a attempt to understand thoses complex networks of trade. I will present here the methodology of my approach and the specific problems related to such a task.
