Bill Mak, Associate Professor in Indological Studies and History of Science at Kyoto University, will visit EFEO Bangkok between 8-18 January 2015 to investigate Thai (as well as Cambodian and Laotian) materials related to the astral sciences including manuscripts, calendars, horoscopes, astral worship, the iconography of planetary deities and nakṣatras, and architectural representation of the cosmos. This is part of his five-year project on "Historical transmission of Indian astral science in East and Southeast Asia". EFEO Bangkok will assist his visits to museums, temples, and institutions such as SPAFA. He will take a field trip to Phetchaburi, and from 14 to 16 January visit Chiang Mai.
