Dr. Marcus Schmücker, member of the Institute for Cultural and Intellectual History of Asia of the Austrian Academy of Science (member of the ECAF), stayed four and a half month (from August to December 2011) as a visiting scholar at the EFEO Centre of Pondicherry. He works in the field of Viśiṣṭṣādvaita Vedānta focused on Ve­dān­tadesika's Sanskrit and Maṇipravāḷa works. He delivered a paper at the conference "The Archeology of Bhakti" (11th-12th August), and then participated in the Classical Tamil Summer Seminar. He continued reading Pēyāḻvār, including the commentary of Periyavācan Piḷḷai, with Dr. Eva Wilden. Having completed a first translation of Pēy­āḻvār and having realized the lack of a phi­lological based translation, both decided on a pro­ject which will give a full annotated trans­lation of all three Antātis. Marcus Schmücker also read parts of the Tat­tva­muktākalāpa of Vedāntadeśika with Paṇḍit Dharanidharan (Associate Professor at the Sanskrit Department, University Pondicherry).
